British chef Jamie Oliver visited Verrill Farm in September 2005 during the filming of an episode for the ‘Today Show.’ In addition to walking around our farm stand and fields, he also spent some time talking with Steve Verrill.
Oliver believes that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food. Last fall he started a “Food Revolution” campaign to help address these issues.
On Feb. 10, Oliver accepted a $100,000 TED prize. The prize helps the winner fulfill a wish he/she has to change the world.
Oliver’s wish is to “create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.”
He used his speech to attack the global food giants for profiting from obesity without ever investing significantly in measures to tackle the world’s most deadly – and worsening – health crisis.
