What a great day today was!
We started our morning today with an employee meeting with Steve Verrill, who announced to applause that we were going to rebuild our farm stand and continue serving our customers.
Staff immediately moved into work mode, with some staffers moving mums from our old stand to our new open-air stand along Wheeler Road. Others worked hard to set up our new stand, running electricity to the wagon, setting up platforms for our tomatoes and apples and making sure that we were ready when customers began arriving.
There were smiles all around when staff participated in a pumpkin brigade, passing pumpkins from their containers down a line of people, to their platforms. It was nice to see smiles on the faces of our staff members, many of whom watched the fire take our farm stand on Saturday night with tears in their eyes.
Most every customer told us how nice it was to see us open and operating so soon. We felt even happier to see all of you today as well.
We have been overwhelmed by the support from our community. Thank you for coming down today and making our first day back a success.
We still have much work ahead of us, but we’ll surely make it through this difficult time with the support of our customers, friends, employees and business associates.

To the Verrill Family & Employees,
I have wonderful memories of visiting Verrill Farm starting when I was about 11 years old, driving out from Bedford with my family to pick strawberries in June, tomatoes in July and corn in August. I’ll be 50 in a couple of weeks, and I’ve loved the many years of returning again and again to your farm for the freshest produce, best baked goods and genuine hospitality of all who work there. The loss of your farmstand is a terrible blow, but I am so happy that you’ll be rebuilding. Please count me among the many friends who support you and care about you and your employees. If there is anything at all we can do to help, no matter how small or how big, please do let us know!
With warmest regards always.

What a shock… I am so glad to hear you’re rebuilding!
Are you accepting donations at the open air stand or should those go straight to the bank?

Hi Verrill Folks–
So so sorry about the fire. From what I can read, you reaction and positive spirit have been incredible. Kuods to you. Verrill Farm is a very treasured place for our family, and we’ll be by the Wheeler Rd farmstand soon.
Best,
Rachael (Cambridge)

We will miss the Harvest Festival this year, but we look forward to a rebuilt Verrill Farm and a continuing partnership. After everything you’ve done for Emerson, it’s our turn to help. We are pleased to lend our support to our neighbor. Please let us know if there is anything you need.
Chris Schuster and all your friends at Emerson
